THE WINNER of the Purple and Yellow Challenge is Katie Gerdis

I had such a difficult time choosing a Purple and Yellow Entry--that I had Alexis help me!! :)  She LOVED the sparkly paper and the flower Katie used on her card!  The runnerup was Jennifer Kimberlin, also because of the flowers on the paper she chose.  Even Alexis had a hard time deciding between those 2!  I think the glitter won her over~

Thank you to everyone who entered and I hope you enjoyed the challenge.  I will try to have another challenge next week!! If you have any thoughts on what the challenge should be, email or message me!

Katie is a new scrapper- and has only been doing it for a couple of months.  She enjoys making cards, and has quite the collection of paper and embellishments already.  Thanks for joining the scrapping world Katie!

Another Scrap Night

Last night was our Scrap Night!!  Katie shares her cute tree card, and everyone else shares a little bit of what they are working on as well!!

It's a CINCH

I have been wanting a BIA (Bind-it-All) for quite some time, but have not got around to making the purchase.  Then I saw that We R Memory Keepers was coming out with their own Binding Machine, that was hot pink and black, and that was supposed to be better!!  So, when it came out--my sweet husband ordered it for me!  I do have a great husband, that understands my scrapping needs ;).

Anyway, I finally got around to playing with it, and thought that as I learned how to use it, I could show you too!

I made a little coaster scrapbook for my darling daughter!  She loves little scrapbooks, that she can quickly complete- So, this small sized book fit the bill.

Ingredients
2 coasters
scrap paper cut to fit
Owire
Cinch
Ribbon
Chipboard letter

Ever get tired of buying new Cricut Mats, because they've lost their stickiness?

I'll show you 2 helpful hints to help you maintain your Cricut Mat for a longer period of time, saving you money and the hassle of running to the store for new mats every week!

How Corny :)

Today,  I decided to make the kids homemade corndogs--like the kind you would get at a State Fair :)

I know it is not very healthy--but how many fun thing are?

This was the first time I made corndogs from scratch--and it turned out to be pretty simple and quick, and the kids LOVED them!

Alexis even said, that I made "...hotdogs better than daddies."  That is a huge compliment, because Daddy is a Grill Master!

I started off with Bun Length Oscar Meyer Weiners, and put popsicle sticks in the ends.

Dipped them in a cup full of cordog batter, which was pretty thick--and then dipped them in my little fryer at 375, just until golden brown.

Not perfectly coated like the ones in the Supermarket--but, oh, so much better!

Alexis loves to eat them sideways!

Jaxen eats them the traditional way!

Thank Ewe

I had a request by my husband, to make a few Thank You cards, for the great people who helped with the fence this past weekend...and of course, with a request like this...I hopped to it.

I browsed my Gypsy for a bit, and then came across my Just Because cartridge.  I hadn't actually used it yet, but was so excited to get this particular cartridge.  I saw the Thank Ewe sheep--and I knew I had a winner.

Recipe:
Cream notecard
blue, cream, white and brown cardstock
Ribbon

Written Instructions:
Use Gypsy and/or Expression to cut out Sheep shape, fur and shadow sheep at 3 inches, and the words Thank Ewe at 3 inches. I chose the shadow to be brown, the body to be cream and the fur to be white.  The words are be blue.
Emboss the white fur with the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls Embossing folder.
Ink the swirl design, with sand colored ink.
Use premade cream notecard, and fold with bone folder.
Cut light blue cardstock at 4 1/2 and 3 3/4 inches.
Add thick ribbon across the bottom of the card, and trim.

Attach shadow, body and fur of sheep together.  Glue the bell onto the sheep. Pop dot the sheep onto the card.
Piece the shadow and letters together with glue pen, and glue to cream colored mat. Glue the cream colored mat to the bottom right hand corner of card.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

On our last scrap night--I brought the cute little bird, I used on the "hi friend" card--programmed on my gypsy.  I thought the girls might want to use him for their cards.  The next thing I know, I am cutting out a flock of birds! Big, little, yellow, green, blue, glittery, etc....and each one was as cute as the first.  There was nothing these birds could not be used for!  Birthdays, Mother's Day, Just Because, Thank You....

So, here are a few that I made in our time together.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Today, I helped my sweet daughter organize her scrapbooking area.  I had emptied out a scrap tote, that I was going to give to her....so there was plenty reason to organize.  She was so excited with her space, she wanted to share it with all of you!!

The Fence is Up

Today, the fence and stairs down from our balcony was finished, thanks to my father-in-law and the help from neighbors.  I had commented, how we were similar to the Amish, in getting so much work done, so quickly.  Of course, I can say that--since I was not doing all the hard work--so it seemed quick to me.  But, I am sure it seemed ever-long to the men.
I am so grateful for their hard work in getting it completed in one weekend, and look forward to many gatherings in our backyard.  In completing all of this wood-work, there were lots of spare wood pieces..there I was more than happy to keep.  My husband, was not so happy about this--but, I am sure there are endless possibilites to what I can craft w/ these wooden pieces that would have been thrown away.

I have a few ideas, and my mom gave me an idea (they are secrets)--but, if you have any ideas...please share!  I have blocks and flat pieces, long and short pieces, plaque size pieces, etc.  So, I am sure if you think of something--I will probably have the wood for it.!

Can't wait to hear your ideas~

Here is some video from our scrap night.  Wendy will show us her project...and you will get to meet some of the other girls that like to craft with me.

Songbird Layouts

As, I was getting ready for scrap night with the girls last night, I had the urge to make a layout.  Do you ever have times when scrapping is just easy--and other times it is like pulling teeth?  Last night--was one of those easy nights.  So, I had 2 layouts done in under 15 minutes.  I used the Songbird paper pack (which by the way, I am LOVING).  I would buy it again, in a heartbeat....it is one of those packs I will use every page in!

I am way behind on printing pictures out- but this was an Easter Photo I had from 2009, that I thought I would FINALLY get on a page~
This page is also from the Songbird paper pack, and was so super simple to make...that I almost felt guilty about it.  All I had to do was some matting, and pop dot a title on the bottom.  The paper pack did everything for me...how great is that??
This photo was taken as a Father's Day gift last year, also-- of me and the kids.

My 2nd video!
Don't you hate pouring money into storage containers and organizers?  I am guilty of spending lots of money on paper organizers, embellishment containers, and the like.

But, there are cheaper ways to organize and store your scrapbooking and card making things.  Today,  I decided my next video should be about making your own horizontal/vertical paper storage in a very affordable way!~

I am so excited.  I have been very hard at work tonight...After I got up my video, I uploaded my card to both scrapbook.com and cricut.com.  :) I also started a Pink Cricut page on Facebook!  You can join that page here!  I also linked my facebook updates to Twitter!  So, if you tweet...you can find me here

Oh, and I forgot to mention:  Tomorrow some of my favorite srappers and myself are getting together to craft!  I am VERY excited to get together with them!  What could be better?  Friends, Paper, Embellishments and Wine!
All in all, I think I have had a rather productive night--and have earned myself a nice night's sleep.  So goodnight, all!

1st VIDEO

HERE IT IS!!
Please be patient--remember it is my 1st video!! :)

Hi Friend Card

Okay, I made my first video!!!  WOOHOO...now, I just have to figure out how to get it edited and uploaded.  I promise you it is very, very "beginner-ish" .  Trying to record yourself, while crafting--is not as easy as it sounds.  And, of course my camera stopped recording a couple of times, without me knowing--so I promise you, next time I won't miss ANY of the action ;).

Here is the final card --that I made in the video!

The card was made with the new Songbird paper from DCWV, and the bird was cut out with the Cricut cartridge,  Straight From the Nest.

Michael's Sale of the Season

I took a little trip to Michael's with a couple of my favorite scrappers last night.  It was a last minute kinda thing....I kept reading Michael's ad headline, "Lowest Scrapbooking Prices of the Season," and I just could not resist.

Now, I am typically a Hobby Lobby girl--because in our town they offer a better selection--and have better prices most of the time.  But, Michaels gets a visit from me every once in awhile.  And, the ad was right--there were some pretty great prices on things.  All their scrapbooking storage was 50% off.  I could've really stocked up, but the question of where am I going to put it...kept floating through my head.  So, I stuck to another set of plastic jar containers for my prima flowers- and a new small carry tote- in ZEBRA print.

Their paper was 40% off as well--which heaven knows I did NOT need paper--so I just picked up one booklet of DCWV in Songbird, because it was too cute to pass up, and I knew it was a Michael's exclusive.

Inks were also 40% off--uhoh.  I just started collecting the fluid chalk inks--and so I picked up a couple more sets.  So far not too shabby...then we came upon something I have never seen before...something that will bring me back to Michael's more often in the future.  It was a whole section of American Girl crafting supplies.  We are talking their own stamps, ink, books, paper, stickers, jewelry making kits, knitting kits--EVERYTHING.

Well, how could I pass up adding to my darling daughter's collection, when we have a trip to American Girl in a few weeks?  I did pretty good--and only bought a few stickers and stamps.  I could have gone crazy buying things--and you know per usual, American Girl was not cheap and it was only 20% off.

The new scrapping items went straight into the tote daddy picked up for Alexis the other day...isn't he sweet?  And, doesn't he know his girls too well?  So, well that at 8:00 he texted us a reminder of time--because I had promised I wouldn't take very long....and he had an errand to run before 9.

Oops...where does the time go when you enter a craft store?

Now, off to using some of my pretty new paper!

Blog Remodel and New Domain Name

So, I have been working really hard tonight--on the new "look" of my creative blog.  My DH also purchased the blog domain name-- http://www.pinkcricut.com/ .  So, that will be what you can type in from now to find me!! Of course, I will not leave you hanging--if you have bookmarked me already, my old site will re-direct you.

I have also started posting some of my work on http://www.scrapbook.com/ tonight.  So, as you can see, I have been very busy :).  I know there are a million things I want to do to this new website, but I have to stop for tonight!

But, I will let you in on a little secret!  I am hoping as soon as my voice stops sounding so froggy, I will try my hand at my very first video blog.  :)
